Terms of Service
Terms of Service
Effective date: October 11, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Konstantin Tikhaev, the developer of Lifeline ("we", "us"), about using the Lifeline app and its services. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. Please also read the Privacy Policy, which explains how your data is handled.
1. What Lifeline is
Lifeline is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android that keeps the big moments of your life on one line: memories with text, photos, video, voice notes and a song, an emotion and how strongly you felt it, reflections, "On this day", optional AI features, encryption of the memories you choose, and export.
Lifeline is a personal tool. It is not a medical, psychological or therapeutic service.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old, or 13 to 15 with the permission of a parent or guardian. AI features are only for people aged 18 and older; by turning them on you confirm that you are.
3. Your account
- You can sign in with email and password, Google or Apple, or try the app as a guest. A guest account keeps up to 5 memories; when a guest signs out, the guest account and its memories are deleted, unless you create an account first.
- Keep your password, master password and recovery key safe. You are responsible for activity in your account.
- Master password: if you forget it and don't have the recovery key, encrypted memories can't be opened by anyone, including us. The only way forward then is to reset encryption, which deletes the encrypted memories.
4. Your content
- Everything you put into Lifeline stays yours.
- You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, sync it to your devices, make thumbnails and converted audio, back it up, and process it in the features you use (including AI features after your consent). This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
- Don't upload anything that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or violates the privacy of others. You are responsible for having the right to store the photos, videos and recordings you add, including those of other people.
- You can export all your memories at any time, for free.
5. AI features
- AI features are optional, only for people aged 18 and older, and work only after you confirm your age and agree to send memory content to Google's Gemini model through our server (see the Privacy Policy).
- AI questions, patterns, the Life Compass and "What followed similar moments" are generated automatically. They can be wrong, incomplete or not fit your situation. They are prompts for your own reflection, not advice, a diagnosis or a prediction you should rely on.
- If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away. Lifeline can't help in an emergency.
- AI features have daily limits so the service stays available for everyone. The current limits are shown in the app ("What the AI sees").
6. Free version and Premium
Free: unlimited memories with an account; per memory up to 10 photos, 1 video, 1 voice note and 1 song; the first round of AI questions; turning voice notes into text; "On this day"; encryption of the memories you choose; and free export. No ads.
Premium adds: no limit on the number of photos, videos, voice notes and songs (each file still has a size limit); the deeper round of AI questions; the pattern of each month; the Life Compass; "What followed similar moments"; the news and songs of each memory's date ("In the world"); playing a memory's song through the Spotify app (needs Spotify Premium); ambient sounds; and reminders for the steps you plan.
Features may change as the app develops. We won't take away a feature you have paid for during a paid period without offering a fair alternative; otherwise we will help you get a refund (on Google Play we can refund you ourselves, on the App Store through Apple).
7. Purchases, subscriptions and refunds
- Premium is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription. Prices are shown in the app and in the store before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price (the store tells you before any price increase), unless you cancel. On the App Store, turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before it ends. On Google Play, cancel any time before the renewal date. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- Free trial: if a trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel in time (on the App Store at least 24 hours before it ends). Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in the store.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. If you have a problem with a purchase, write to us and we will help where we can.
8. If you got Lifeline from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies, and where it gives you more rights, it wins. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Lifeline and isn't responsible for claims about it (for example product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property); contact us instead. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
9. Third-party services
Lifeline uses services of other companies, such as Google (Firebase, Gemini, Sign-In), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store), Spotify, Wikimedia, Billboard, Meta and Resend. Their own terms apply to your use of them (for example connecting the Spotify app). We aren't responsible for their content or availability.
10. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to access other people's data or our systems without permission, to overload or disrupt the service, to get around limits or payments, to scrape it, or to use it for anything unlawful. Don't copy, modify or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.
Shared memories. What you add to a shared memory is seen by the people you share it with. There is no tolerance in Lifeline for harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, or other objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You can report a message or a photo and block a person in the app. We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these rules, and may close the account that posted it.
11. Availability and changes
We work to keep Lifeline running and your data safe, but we can't promise that the service will always be available or free of errors. We may update the app, change or remove features, or require an update to keep using some features. If we ever stop offering Lifeline, we will tell you in advance and give you time to export your memories.
Please keep your own copy of what matters to you: the free export makes that easy.
12. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using Lifeline at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile > Delete Account) or by writing to us. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Unless that is impossible or unlawful, we will tell you first and give you the chance to export your memories.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law of your country that can't be limited by contract.
To the extent the law allows: the app is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Lifeline in the 12 months before the claim. We are liable without these limits where the law doesn't allow them, for example for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will show the new version in the app and update the date above; if a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. Before going to court, please write to us; most problems can be solved quickly.
